Typically, it is not my thing to use this site to call out particular persons and their errors, since the Lord knows that we all have our failings, and those failings, when coupled with their revelation and our conviction, lead us to repentance and closer to godliness through the work of the Spirit.
Well, at least they should.
However, since it has now been twelve years since the events of 9/11 and twelve years since Ergun Caner saw the opportunity through that tragedy to bolster his fictitious Muslim past and seized it, and since somehow (only God knows how) he and his brother Emir (who actively aided in covering up his brother’s lies) are still active in Christian circles and education despite the fact that their lies have been uncovered and yet are both still unrepentant and arrogant, I thought that it would be fitting to use this site which by name is “dedicated to the Righteousness that comes from God alone” to aid in combatting those who are opposed to that Righteousness, even those who call themselves by the name of Christ.
And Ergun and Emir Caner are opposed to that Righteousness (read Jesus Christ). And this is to say nothing of their tendency toward Arminianism and toward other bad doctrine which oppose the Righteousness of God as revealed to us through the apostles and the prophets in the Scriptures, but by their blatant refusal to accept and to learn from criticism and to repent at the revelation of their lies and deceit, they refuse the very call of the Gospel itself, namely, “Believe and repent.” For what business do these have to be ministers of the Gospel when they themselves refuse its call? What business do they have in preaching the truth if they themselves are full of lies and deceit? What business do they have in teaching if they themselves refuse to be taught? None at all, for Christ says of the unrepentant in the church:
If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector (Matt. 18:15-17).
And Paul writes:
But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you” (1Cor. 5:11-13).
It is therefore our duty as those who have been called into the Church of Christ to purge the evil ones from among us. Yet many who profess Christ have neglected this duty with regard to the Caners, for they are not merely eating and associating with these men, but they asking them to teach in their schools, preach in their churches, and be presidents of their colleges. Why? I honestly don’t know why, for the evidence is everywhere against them. They are liars and swindlers, haters of the truth, haters of those who preach the truth, revilers, arrogant, haughty, and rejecters of authority. For it would be one thing if they told these lies and repented, but they have told these lies and have been busy covering their tracks ever since, and even that they do poorly. Sane men would have realized that they were found out and would have at least admitted their sin, but these men are insane, telling more lies to cover up their previous lies in hopes that one day it will all blow over.
And who knows? They might be successful in their cover-ups and one day everyone might forget all their lies and deception. They may be able to continue to do “ministry” until the day they die and few would be none the wiser.
But God knows.
Hopefully these men will one day learn to fear God and repent, but until that day they should be anathema to us. May God cleanse his church. Amen.
